Intelligent Sound and Music Systems
Intelligent Sound and Music Systems (ISMS) are systems (computational or otherwise) which make or process music in ways which involve knowledge of music and/or musical behaviour. The broad research aims of the ISMS group are to understand better how human music cognition functions and to build computational systems which exhibit behaviour which is musical and/or useful to musicians
The ISMS research group is based in the Department of Computing at Goldsmiths College in the University of London but also has members from the School of Informatics at City University, the Faculty of Music at the University of Edinburgh, the Creative Systems Group at the University of Coimbra in Portugal and the University of Helsinki.
Some recent publications by members of the group can be found on the publications page. ISMS seminars are held regularly and the group has a library of relevant articles with an online searchable catalogue.
