What is the Matrix?

Monday, November 24th, 2008

Here’s a section taken from “The Matrix”, where Laurence Fishburne describes human beings as batteries whilst advertising Duracell. What is a Metaphor, anyway?

Check out this article from freerepublic.com, a republican web site. This article criticises ‘The Matrix’ as politically motivated “Cultural Terrorism”. Here’s a small sample:

Never before in the history of cinema, not even in Stalin’s Russia, has the terroristic and “virtual” annihilation of Western civilization been portrayed as a romantic and revolutionary adventure, until now.

Woah.

Tim Blackwell

Tuesday, November 11th, 2008

Tim Blackwell has kindly sent us a copy of his presentation on his work, and some example processing code. The example code runs a Cellular Automata algorithm and uses it as a score to generate musical notes. If you are interested in the CA graphics, take a look in the Yr. 1 Creative Computing guide for some more information.
