Linear Perspective

According to Willats, 2 types:

  • Primary Geometry - (viewpoint, direction of projection)
  • Secondary Geometry - (foreshortening, make parallels converge, project circles into elipses)

Pros:

  • Simple and elegant solution to representing 3D on 2D image.

Cons:

  • Limited to one viewpoint else distortion occurs (can be used to advantage see Holbein).
  • Not all constraints between 3D and 2D satisfied - spheres projected as elipses, distortion in wide angle views.
