Prof Lavie is the director of Attention and Cognitive Control laboratory, UCL Institute of Cognitive Neuroscience. She is an expert in the use of the cognitive neuroscience methods of behavioural experiments, visual psychophysics, neuroimaging and Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation to study attention. Her main research areas involve the Load Theory of attention (creator); psychological and neural mechanisms of attention, visual awareness, working memory and cognitive control and the effects of emotion on attention and awareness. Lavie’s lab has partnerships with Toyota Motor Europe R&D HQ, the Ministry of Defence (Defence Science and Technology Laboratory) and more recently also the Russian federal space agency.
