“THE CLOTHES”

When a garment is created, it acts as an entity, as an objective fact. It itself is a symbol, we call it zero nature. This project is a process of exploring the creation of zero nature. A process of simplifying symbols.

Introduction

I made "the clothes" -- a symbol created by myself. No matter how external it is, it will change into the same plane symbol when passing through this device. First of all, I designed the "clothes". It is a symbol. Anyone standing in front of it will only have such a shape. The idea of unifying clothes is to make people pay attention to the fact that clothes are essentially symbols of clothes. It's just clothes. On the other hand, it can also be given various symbols such as "young", "unique", "tasteful", etc. it is a reflective and satirical work. Everyone can have a different understanding, and this appearance can carry any interpretation. And the line is the limit of appearance and symbols.

What this work wants to express is: the symbol should be the entertainment of life, not the necessity. Consumerism is to label goods with symbols and transform some people's consumption from "physical consumption" to "intentional consumption" by binding intention. These symbols, which may lack the core, make consumers immersed in meaningless "pseudo consciousness". The sociologist Baudrillard once said: "in the process of consumption generalization, there is no soul, shadow, mirror image, copy, nor the probability judgment of existence and appearance, only the sending and receiving of symbols. The existence of individual is cancelled in the combination and calculation of symbols. All of these are the absence of social thinking and their own perspective. "

Concept and background research

The story starts with buying a high-cost T-shirt. Buying it seriously affected my quality of life at that time. So I had to think about whether I fell into the consumption trap. So I looked through some financial reports of trendy brands and luxury companies.
First of all, LVHM's financial report disclosed that at the beginning of April 2020, China's consumption had a year-on-year growth rate of 50%. Consumption in Asia excluding Japan accounted for 30% of the total income, which did not include Chinese consumption abroad. In 2019, the main business income is 53.6 billion euro, accounting for 38% of the marketing and marketing expenses. This is mainly due to the market and the expenses paid to the sales staff, site expenses, advertising and promotion expenses, holding shows, etc. The cost of raw materials is only about 5%. Patrizio Di Marco, President of Gucci, once said that the cost of canvas without coating process for LV is 11 euro / M (our common classic flower bags are Monogram coated canvas), so the material cost of such LV bag is only 50 euro. Of course, the value of a bag lies in its design and workmanship.
Karl Lagerfeld made $58 million a year when he worked for Chanel, and between $50000 and $70000 for an average designer. The cost of technology is only about 300 euro for Hermes' handmade bags. Of course, the best-selling model for mass production, far from such value. In addition, depreciation expenses are included in the management cost. If you look at the profit margin, for others, clothes and bags have a 33% profit margin. It is easy to see that in addition to the value of some clothing products, symbols give them multiple values.

By chance, I saw mark kostabi's painting of a faceless man. His works show that postmodern practice is the degeneration of high culture, but it is a kind of intentional degradation, which intentionally lowers himself to the level of low-level culture. It wants to find a sense of going home because it makes it more consumptive, so it takes advantage of narrative, familiarity with symbols and simple forms. Its main form is the diversity of attitude and value, which people can choose at will. Social reality is affirmed as heterogeneous, fragmentary and accidental at all levels.(http://www.artnet.com/artists/mark-kostabi/)

Technical

I used the Kinect and the projector. First, the green color blocks are recognized by Kinect, and two color blocks are connected to form a line. Then Kinect recognizes the joints and fills the body below that line. There were two difficult places that stuck for a long time when I was doing it. 111 line for loop. I first recognize the outline of the green object, and use this to calculate the center of the green object, and then draw a circle on the center.
149 lines of for loop, calculate a line, and then determine the position of all the points in the image above or below. In addition, a result is judged. Are these points a display image or a background. If the screen captured by the camera is displayed at the top, the bottom of the line is filled.
